Indira Gandhi International academy is a unique residential school meant for the Sri Lankan Tamil refugee children displaced from their homes in Sri Lanka due to the war and housed in various refugee camps in India and who are unable to have access to education.
There are about 1,50,000 Sri Lankan Tamil refugees housed in various refugee camps in Tamil Nadu and Orissa and there are more than 40,000 children below the age of 15 years without any facility to continue their education.
So The Bright Society which is a registered charitable organisation in India under Societies registration Act and is devoted to the upliftment of the innocent victims of the crisis in Sri Lanka and took refuge in India inaugurated Indira Gandhi International Academy in Bangalore, India.
IGIA tries best to make the students forget their bitter past memories of the war they have seen and to forget the torture and trauma experience they underwent during the war and during the period of refugee life in the refugee camps and to give them back their lost childhood.
The school was started in 1990 with 450 students and as time went on the amount of donation declined and as a result at present we have 250 students studying from 1st Std to BCom
IGIA provides everything free to the students and struggling to provide all the needs of the students as well as the teachers and the non teaching staff.
Whatever is of no use to you will be of much use to us and we maintain absolute transparency in everything.
We are ready to provide any information required by you about the school and the gates of the school are open to you at any hour of the day.
